BJAI Chhath Mahaparv 2022

The Bihar Jharkhand Association of Ireland (BJAI) proudly organised the first-ever community-level Chhath Mahaparv celebration in Ireland in October 2022. This historic celebration brought together people from different communities across Ireland to participate in and witness one of the most significant festivals of Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern India.

With great devotion, enthusiasm, and community spirit, BJAI celebrated the four-day-long Chhath Mahaparv for the first time at a country-wide community level in Ireland. Organising Chhath Puja away from India was a challenging task, especially as it was being performed for the first time on such a scale. However, with the blessings of Chhathi Maiya and the support of BJAI members, volunteers, families, and well-wishers, the celebration was completed smoothly and successfully.

BJAI was honoured to welcome H.E. Akhilesh Mishra, Ambassador of India to Ireland, along with his wife Mrs. Reeti Mishra, who attended the Chhath Puja and encouraged the community with their presence. The celebration was also witnessed by local leaders, including Dublin South County Council Mayor Emma Murphy, along with other invited guests and community representatives.

As part of the celebration, dinner prasad was served to all attendees on Sunday, 30 October 2022. On Monday, 31 October 2022, devotees and attendees were offered traditional fruit prasad and thekua, an essential part of Chhath Puja tradition.

This first BJAI Chhath Mahaparv in Ireland was a proud and emotional milestone for the community. It helped preserve a deeply rooted cultural and spiritual tradition while giving families and the younger generation in Ireland a meaningful connection to their heritage.
